TV hotties take the Punjabi route to B-Town

Guess what’s common between Rannvijay Singh Singha, Karan Kundra, Karanvir Bohra and Gurmeet Choudhary? They are the biggest names on television who are also doing Punjabi films before they take that inevitable Bollywood plunge.

Karan Kundra who’s wrapped up Pure PunjabiandControl Bhaiji Controlmade his official Bollywood debut in Horror Story in 2013 and is currently hosting Gumrah’s new season in between reading Hindi film scripts.Rannvijay Singh Singha might be playing character roles in Bollywood films so far, but he’s finished shooting for Taur Mitran Di, a Punjabi film and has just landed the lead role in Nagesh Kukunoor’s untitled next for which he’s building a boxer’s body.
Karanvir Bohra and wife Teejay Siddhu made their debut as producers and actors in the Punjabi flick Love You Soniyeand are working towards “another” Punjabi film. The couple who’re also participants inKhatron Ke Khiladi Darr Ka Blockbusterconsider the Punjabi film industry as very “vibrant”. Karanvir also admits that doing the Punjabi film was like a “training ground” as he plans to star in a Bollywood film sometime this year. Gurmeet Choudhary who’s completed the Punjabi film Yaar Mera Rab Varga and is also a strong contestant in KKK-Darr Ka Blockbuster is also “keen” on a Bollywood debut sometime this year and is “in talks” with production houses and if all goes well might start shooting by the middle of the year.
Well, by the looks of it, what Tellywood couldn’t do for these hunks, Punjabi movies just might –provide a diving board and a ticket to Bollywood!
